The "Gymnasium" of Olympia was a rectangular covered building 220m long by 120m wide, made up of a double row of 66 Doric columns, (of which we can only admire their ruins today), topped with a wooden roof. and surrounding a central courtyard 192 m long and 10 m wide, where the discus, javelin, shot put, long jump events took place, etc.
